The film is Acid Therapy (working title), written by three Notre Dame alums ? Tricia Hughes, Katie Runde and Mark Lyons. It details both the struggles and the bonds of a family touched by the war in Afghanistan. The characters are: Lamb ? Male, aged late teens/early 20s. At first, a cheerful young man searching for a purpose; later, a marine back from his first deployment to Afghanistan. The experience has made him sullen and he is finding it hard to settle back into his old life. Tess ? Female, aged late teens/early 20s, Lamb?s sister. Once quite close to Lamb, she struggles to connect with him, particularly in the wake of her preparations to leave for college. Sandy ? Female, aged 40-50, Lamb and Tess? mother. She is obsessed with turning her hydrangeas blue and holds the family together in unseen ways. Tom ? Male, aged late teens/early 20s, Tess? boyfriend. His role in Tess? life drastically changes with the return of Lamb and Tess leaving for college. Marty ? Male or female, any age, Tess? boss. He gives Tess a chance when she needs one most. Marine Recruiter ? Male, aged up to 50. The man who helps Lamb enlist. Tom?s mom ? Female, aged 40-50.An absentee parent in Tom?s life. Other small speaking and non-speaking roles. There is no concern for character ethnicity in any case, except that all members of the same family must also be of the same ethnicity. All actors will be compensated at the standard rate for a SAG Ultra Low Budget film. Shooting will be in the evening on weekdays and on weekends as well. Partial funding is provided by grants from the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts and Teaching Beyond the Classroom, with administrative and managerial support from the Department of Film, Television and Theatre. Production Biographies: Brian McLaughlin is a Notre Dame alum and current visiting professor in the Film, Television and Theatre department. He is the president of Emerald Elephant Entertainment and member of both the Producers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild of America. He has produced four feature films, all acquired for worldwide distribution. Producer Jeremy Womac has produced two feature films, one acquired for distribution. He has won several awards for his work in short films. Director Jackie Lee James has directed one feature film ? starring Ron Jeremy, Corey Haim and Tiffany Shepis ? and has another in production.
